Tell me a little about yourself and your background?
I am 20 year old college student in the beautiful state of Michigan. I grew up with two younger sisters and my family means everything to me. My dream is to encourage others to find something their passionate about, that allows them to love themselves unconditionally and become their own inspiration whether it’s in health and fitness or not.
What aspect of fitness do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy constantly being challenged. With knowledge and weights. Pushing myself to the limits only to become better in the end.
How long have you been into fitness?
I started my fitness journey just about two years ago but I didn’t start taking it seriously until about 9 months ago
How did you get into fitness?
I was in a very low point in my life. I found value in myself through what others thought of me. I needed to change and I didn’t know how. I started working out more regularly at the gym that I work at and I fell in love with it. The way it made me feel, how much I was smiling again. I began mending old relationships and seeing value in myself again. I started to become proud of who I was and got excited to go to the gym every day. I created amazing relationships with others who had the same mindset and now I am the happiest I have ever been, proud of whom I am and what I built. In love with my God who lead me to this path and so grateful for all of the people who helped me along my journey to get me where I am. But let’s be clear, this is just the beginning for me.
What was a turning point for you to take it seriously?
For me it was when I saw how happy I was. Knowing that something so simple that took an hour out of my day made me love and smile so much, I knew I had to make it a priority. I am an advocate for constantly working towards your best self and I couldn’t do that without prioritizing my health, mental and physical.
How has fitness impacted your life?
I am a different person. I have prioritized myself in so many aspects of my life. I am a happier and more prepared person for life. I have major goals that rather than scaring me I know I will conquer them. Fitness gave me the ability to dream like a lion
What words of advice or encouragement would you like to give to someone who is just starting out or would like to start but doesn’t know where to begin?
Don’t let a lamb’s opinion affect your lion dreams.
You live each day to make yourself better for the next. Make tomorrow your today and start. It doesn’t matter how small just start. Keep going and eventually you will realize your finish line is really the start of something amazing.
