Tell me a little about yourself and your background?
My name is Dallas Rae Sainsbury. I am a professional fitness competitor and have been involved in health and fitness for five years now. I have been overweight, underweight, sick with Crohns disease and everywhere in between.
What aspect of fitness do you enjoy the most?
I love working out. Lifting is easy for me. The gym is a stress relief and therapy of sorts.
How long have you been into fitness?
5 years. I started with 30lbs of weight loss.
How did you get into fitness?
I was getting out of a relationship and had not been taking care of myself so I decided that I needed a dramatic lifestyle change.
What was a turning point for you to take it seriously?
Once I got into a routine I noticed I was changing quickly and I had a natural knack for fitness. From there I decided that this was something I should run with.
How has fitness impacted your life?
It all around has made me a better person. It’s made me more resilient and able to really put my all into something. It’s taught me a lot of discipline in all aspects of my life.
What words of advice or encouragement would you like to give to someone who is just starting out or would like to start but doesn’t know where to begin?
My biggest piece of advice is to observe and ask for help. I would walk on the treadmill and just watch people who were lifting weights. Eventually I felt like I understood enough to do it myself. I had a personal trainer show me around the equipment one day and it just takes off from there.
