Tell me a little about yourself and your background?
Raised in Houston, TX, with my 3 older sisters and 3 younger brothers by my Vietnamese mother and American father. My family suffered tremendously following the economy crash in the late ’80s. So much so that we moved to Puebla, Mexico where cost of living was lower. In that time I was born, a dual citizen. Being born during a difficult time really impacted me, in a positive way. I’m told I would do a comedy show for my family every night; I was constantly trying to boost people’s moods. Learning this made me realize why I am the way I am. Once we returned to Houston I began school, Catholic School for 14 years.
I find happiness in making people feel better. Not sure if that’s selfish because I get happiness out of it but it’s the truth. There is a dark side, I can get very upset and defensive when someone is mistreated or when someone is being close-minded, to a point where I actually become the ugly one. I’m getting better with that. Anyway, I’m sharing this because this is the premise to why you’re reading this at all.
Nikki Blackketter and I met while working together at a Grimaldi’s Pizzeria almost 10 years ago and then we both grew in our own directions. We both come from big hard working families who raised us to do good and respect others. She was fearlessly working hard to make an impact in this world and becoming who she is today while I was studying Business Marketing, reading about impacting people based on historic trends and statistics. Lol. Ok, it wasn’t that bad. I also was a Project Manager for a technology company, WadeGacia, where I worked incredibly hard to implement an innovative security system in schools. Let’s just say, at that time it sparked a lot of controversy, and has recently gained a lot more interests. Learning about Nikki and her bf breaking up totally made me hurt for her. We were both living in Houston so we met up at my apt. pool and caught up. Long story short, our common interest and compatible personalities led us to become best friends and roommates. We both hated to see each other hurt and just loved bringing each other up. Sometimes too up. lol. Living with Nikki and learning about this entirely unfamiliar world of influencing people from all over the world by sharing what you love to do blew my mind. Still blows my mind. I was completely ignorant to the fact of making an impact through social media. I am still learning. I don’t think you get it. I was use to literally being shamed for sharing too much and now this? Whooaaaa. Times be changing! Gotta keep up.
