Tell me a little about yourself and your background?
I grew up in a very small, rural town. I am the youngest in my family, (four brothers!) and the only girl! I always wanted to be “one of the boys” and this encouraged me to play many sports. I’ve been an athlete my entire life and maintained this passion for fitness. I struggled as a young woman with body image. Learning more about nutrition for aesthetics and performance was very empowering for me. I was inspired to share my knowledge and journey with others and have been coaching since fall of 2015.
What aspect of fitness do you enjoy the most?
Goal setting. I love to hold myself accountable and strive for my goals.
How long have you been into fitness?
Lifelong! First bikini bodybuilding competition was June of 2014.
How did you get into fitness?
It has been a lifelong passion. My desire to help others break the patterns and cycles that had me feeling stuck was a big motivator.
What was a turning point for you to take it seriously?
I am naturally someone that can focus intensely. When I had a lot of success competing and enjoyed fitness while being able to help others, it felt like a natural step.
How has fitness impacted your life?
Fitness has impacted my life both positively and negatively. I became hyper focused on competing and lost a lot of balance in my life because of those decisions. I have learned SO much from it all, both positive and negative. I learned a lot about myself and health and nutrition too. I love fitness because if you take the initiative, it’s a never ending learning process. Because of fitness, I have a job where I am able to help people, make a difference and continue my education.
What words of advice or encouragement would you like to give to someone who is just starting out or would like to start but doesn’t know where to begin?
I would say… just start!! Read and definitely solicit help. Don’t be afraid to ask for help at the gym or hire a coach. Everyone has to start somewhere!
